CARES supports Borcelik in the ResponsibleSteel™
certification process
ResponsibleSteel™ is a not-for-profit
multi-stakeholder membership organisation for the responsible sourcing and
production of steel. ResponsibleSteel™ has developed a standard to help stakeholders
by defining the fundamental elements and levels of implementation for
transition pathways towards near zero emission, responsible steel production.
CARES is the world’s leading independent provider
of assured certification for the steel industry and has been approved to carry
out assessment and surveillance audits by ResponsibleSteel™.
Borcelik has become a ResponsibleSteel™ member in
December 2021 and has recently announced that CARES has been commissioned to
conduct ResponsibleSteel™ certification audits.
Borcelik is a JV between Borusan Holding and
ArcelorMittal. Founded in 1990, it was the first private flat steel
manufacturer in Turkey. Borcelik has 1,5 million tons of production capacity
for “colled-rolled” and “hot-dip galvanized” steel products. Borcelik is the
biggest galvanized steel manufacturer of Turkey offering the highest quality
with 900 thousand tons of galvanized steel capacity. Borcelik is a producer of
commercial, drawing, deep-drawing and extra-deep drawing steel, as well as
bake-hardening, dual-phase, rephosphorized, HSLA (high strength low alloy),
high-carbon steels, enamelling and structural steels.
