CARES releases updated Guide to reinforcing steels

25/10/2023

A further updated Guide to reinforcing steels has just been released by CARES. This is the fourth in a series and dives deeper into products’ performance characteristics, with a specific focus on the impacts relating to sustainable development of these materials from the point of manufacture to onsite delivery.

The CARES Guide Part 4 sets out, among other things, information relating to the social and environmental details companies are required to report across a growing number of markets as well as details of the BREEAM ratings and other steps the industry is adopting in support of the drive to limit global temperature rises.

CARES introduced its Sustainable Reinforcing Steel Certification Scheme in 2009, which is accredited by UKAS and BREEAM, and the latest Guide provides important details on the scope and performance characteristics demonstrated by compliant products.

Further updated CARES Guides will be released over the coming months to provide all stakeholders with detailed, contemporaneous information on all aspects of constructional reinforcing steels.
