Philip Sanders, Executive Director, ACRS

The CARES Board and Senior Management Team are all saddened to learn of the death last week of Philip Sanders, Executive Director of the Australasian Certification Authority for Reinforcing and Structural Steels Ltd (ACRS).

Mr Sanders was an extremely knowledgeable and highly regarded figure in the wider infrastructure industry across Australasia, and he played a pivotal role in developing the strong bond between CARES, ACRS and other key stakeholders in both the Australia and New Zealand construction sector.

Lee Brankley, CARES Chief Executive Officer, said he was “very saddened” to hear the news, which followed a short illness. “Philip was a dedicated and passionate supporter of our industry, and I came to know him well as we navigated areas of common ground on certification matters. I was only recently discussing with him his plans for a business visit to the UK and Europe, so this news is a shock not only to colleagues in Australasia but across the wider certification community.

“Our thoughts are with Philip’s wife, Jeanette, his family, friends and all his colleagues at ACRS.”
