CARES sponsors the NCE UK Rail Conference

17/06/2015

CARES is one of the sponsors of the NCE UK Rail conference that takes place on 23-24 June in London. From drawing out lessons learned from Crossrail to exploring the recent developments on HS2, this event will provide insight from those delivering, designing and procuring these £multi-billion projects.

Lee Brankley and Ayhan Tugrul will be representing CARES at the conference in order to raise awareness of CARES and the benefits of specifying CARES approval. We will be encouraging users and specifiers to specify the CARES Steel for the Reinforcement of Concrete (SRC) scheme.

We will also be introducing the new optional addition to the SRC Scheme that addresses the technical and operational requirements for the manufacture of carbon steel bars for the reinforcement of concrete for use in the nuclear power sector and other mega projects.

This addition to the SRC scheme defines and establishes a new level of best practice to meet the demanding needs of both the nuclear supply chain and others embracing the highest levels of product quality assurance and sustainability.

This new product conformity certification schedule will apply to producers of reinforcing steel possessing:

  • a valid CARES ISO 9001 quality management certificate
  • a valid CARES product conformity certificate
  • a valid CARES sustainability certification certificate
  • an OHSAS 18001 Occupational health and safety management system certificate
  • an ISO 14001 Environmental management system certificate.

Approved manufacturers will also use the CARES Cloud to transfer product test data and achieve even more efficient transfer of product traceability data across the whole supply chain.
