CARES “extremely pleased” to be among the first to be accredited to new ISO Standard

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) has recently confirmed that CARES has become one of the first Certification Bodies in the country to successfully achieve accreditation to its new ISO 45001:2018 management system.

Following a detailed assessment of CARES’ performance and capabilities by UKAS, the official announcement of migration to the new standard – regarded as one of the most rigorous and highly regarded frameworks in the field of workplace health and safety performance – was confirmed in a formal advisory notice received by CARES in early July 2018.

“We are extremely pleased to receive this news, particularly as the UKAS announcement confirms that CARES is one of the first Certification Bodies to achieve accreditation to provide certification to the enhanced Standard,” said Lee Brankley, CARES’ Chief Executive Officer.

He added that CARES adopted a similarly rigorous approach of continuous improvement in its product certification services and sustainability schemes.  “While delighted to receive this news from UKAS we are certainly not complacent. I know that the team who worked so hard on achieving this ISO 45001 enhanced accreditation will continue to monitor our own performance – at every level. “

In its announcement UKAS explained that accredited Certification Bodies were invited to participate in an initial tranche of migration assessments during May 2018, which reflected the ISO and International Accreditation Forum’s (IAF) drive to promote early implementation of accredited certification under ISO 45001: 2018. The UKAS migration programme under ISO/IEC 18021-1:2015 commenced shortly after publication of the new management system standard and CARES is one of an initial group of Certification Bodies that successfully completed their migration assessment as part of the ongoing UKAS process.
