Lee Brankley has been appointed CEO of CARES by the Board of CARES. He has been Acting Chief Executive Officer of CARES since January 2015. He takes up the permanent role with immediate effect following the recent resignation of Ben Bowsher due to ill health.

"Lee Brankley brings innovative thinking and a wealth of experience that will take CARES forward at this important stage in its development,” said Les Clark, Chairman of CARES.

On his appointment, Lee Brankley said: “CARES has a strong track record in assuring the quality of reinforcing steel produced in over 40 countries around the world including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, China, Luxembourg and Turkey.”

He reiterated that “clients and specifiers should specify CARES approved reinforcement manufacturers and fabricators with confidence that the product will comply with the relevant reinforcement standard without the need for costly, on-site testing.”

Lee first joined CARES in 1991, and was General Manager of the organisation until his appointment as Acting CEO. He is looking forward to ensuring that CARES continues to meet the evolving needs of the reinforcing steel supply chain both in the UK and globally.

He said, “CARES is developing a wider range of services to enhance the health and safety, structural and environmental performance of reinforcement to meet the needs of clients and contractors who continue to make great strides in product and process efficiency and innovation. For example, in 2014 CARES saw the further development of the Environmental Product Declaration model, and, its BREEAM recognition was re-confirmed under the latest BREEAM UK New Construction 2014 green building rating system.”
