CARES expertise in structural concrete recognised by prestigious professional body.

CARES’ long experience and aggregated sector knowledge has assisted professional colleagues in preparing an extensively revised and updated manual providing guidance on best practice in structural concrete detailing.

Standard method of detailing structural concretehas been reissued by the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). In its new, 4th edition, published this month, there are significant contributions from globally recognised design consultancies, main contractors and international experts in the field of structural concrete.

The manual, regarded as one of the most authoritative publications in its field by designers, consultants and major project managers, has been subject to extensive updating to make it fully aligned with BS 8666:2020 — and CARES’ contribution in that technical process is acknowledged extensively in the publication.

“We are very pleased to have been able to collaborate extensively with our IStructE colleagues with this important publication,” said CARES CEO Lee Brankley. “There are a number of areas where CARES’ extensive technical knowledge in relation to reinforcement and the technical approval schemes we operate have been highlighted in the updated manual and we are pleased to support this vitally important work.”

IStructE Head of Publishing, Lee Baldwin, said: “Standard method of detailing structural concrete has served as the industry-standard manual on the subject for almost 50 years, and we are delighted to be able to present this 4th edition to the profession. I would like to thank CARES for its fantastic contribution; providing essential technical expertise throughout the manual.”
